Welcome to Amore Maltese & thanks for stopping by!  We are a small preservation breeder of show & companion maltese dogs making our home in Tampa on the sunny gulf coast of Florida.

After discovering the breed more than 30 years ago, we’ve not gone a single day without a maltese in our lives. Our maltese are truly family members – raised in our home, sharing our beds & of course helping us finish off that last bite of dinner.  Throughout history a maltese’s only “job” has been to be your best friend – and it’s a job they do extremely well.

While we started our journey as maltese aficionados, we then discovered the world of dog shows & the breeders responsible for those bloodlines. Here were families who had dedicated decades to preserving this ancient breed for future generations – studying pedigrees, running DNA to screen out genetic disorders, evaluating structure & importing lines from around the world to improve their gene pool – all so that each generation can be an improvement on the last.  It’s an absolute labor of love designed to preserve & protect the future of these dogs we so adore.  No question about it – we had found our people.

So here we are delighted to have joined those contributing to the preservation of these beautiful little companions.   Blessed to have the generous guidance of those who came before us, we plan our breedings with 3 goals in mind:  loving & happy temperments, healthy dogs, & conformation to our breed standard.   We want to ensure these affectionate little companions continue to grace our world years to come!
